Not only had they the best five fish limit, but biggest bass too, all on white 33-series Yamamoto tube baits. In all, over 140 teams of anglers came out despite low water conditions to catch tons of spotted bass and share in camaraderie at a gala social evening and banquet at Feather Falls Casino in Oroville, California during Angler's Choice inaugural Yamamoto Open on November 23, 2002. We've christened the Yamamoto Open series. The official opener was held this weekend in Oroville, California. The next Yamamoto Open at Okeechobee, Florida on April 12th will feature a pig roast outdoor barbecue, courtesy of Roland & Mary Ann Martin's Marina & Resort. Team Yamamoto's Mike DelVisco is tentatively planning to catapult Okeechobee right into the multimedia age with his full-blown big screen presentation featuring Yamamoto baits. "We are working on being able to bring a big bass tub tanker there so our Team Yamamoto Florida guys such as Paul Crawford and Tony Strickland can climb up top to show and instruct the anglers, specifically for Okeechobee, how to fish Yamamoto baits," says Bassdozer. The Yamamoto Okeechobee Open is about four months away, but the excitement is mounting already. "The Yamamoto Okeechobee Open is going to be a first rate event that you will enjoy fishing. We're out to show anglers a good time," says Team Yamamoto pro Paul Crawford from Orlando, Florida. The first was at Lake Oroville, California on November 23, 2002. The second will be at Lake Okeechobee, Florida on April 12, 2003. Locations and dates of the third and fourth events will be announced shortly. Although there are four events, each one is a separate event. So you can fish just the one event nearest you. Of course, if you want to fish more than one, you sure can, but there are no points or anything carried over from one event to the next. A fifth and final crowning Yamamoto Classic will occur at the end of 2003, when the top forty teams from each of the four qualifying Opens (160 teams in all) will be eligible to fish for a grand prize, a Champion Boats 206 Elite bass boat. A second bass boat, a Champion 188 Elite, will also be awarded during the Yamamoto Classic to a lucky team. Yes, you read that right! Champion Boats will give away two Champion Elite bass boats, one 206 Elite to the first place team, effectively the Yamamoto Anglers of the Year. Plus Champion will award one 188 Elite to a lucky team in attendence! "At the Yamamoto Classic, we will crown the best Yamamoto angler team in the country, quite a prestigious title. They will drive home with a new Champion 206 bass boat. We have always wanted to do something like this, and now the new US Angler's Choice has made it possible for anglers," says an enthusiastic Russ Bassdozer, the advertising and promotional marketing director for Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. __________________________________________________ Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and their families from your friends at Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. Hope to see you at Okeechobee in April, where everyone is sure to have a fun time, fast fishing, and the top forty teams at Okeechobee will qualify for the prestigious Yamamoto Classic to be held later in 2003. Regards, Russ Bassdozer __________________________________________________
