BASSDOZER IS AT WORK, ON VACATION

Russ "Bassdozer" is on his way to New York, for the Yamamoto
Open on the Hudson River. This will be a great event and if
you have the means, I highly recommend attending!

Before departing he prepared this weeks news, taking the
pressure off me this week. I will be at the helm for the
next couple of weeks until his safe return from a working
vacation.

This is the time year that most families pack up and head
out on "THE FAMILY VACATION" and I am not immune to this
yearly ritual but this year will be slightly different. I
will be the sole parent taking the kids camping, I think I'm
in trouble, but maybe not.

They want to go camping on Lake Powell, so we are heading
for a remote area on the San Juan River arm. If I return
with a sane mind, I hope to report on massive Striper boils,
catching largemouth and smallmouth bass on every cast,
sitting by the campfire while listening to coyotes howl at
the moon.

Next week:
Camping With The Kids.

Have a great weekend and be safe during your travels.

Ron

GARY YAMAMOTO FOURTH IN INTERNATIONAL BASS CLASSIC IN ITALY

Top international bass anglers from Italy, Spain, France,
Japan and the USA convened on the small village of Bolsena,
Italy for the 2003 International Bass Classic Mercury Cup
competition last week.

Just one hour and a half from Rome's International airport,
the small village of Bolsena is full of history and
tradition. Eleven hundred year old castles and historical
buildings still stand there. With rolling green hills full
of vineyards and olive trees, it is a perfect Italian and
romantic countryside setting.

TEAM YAMAMOTO'S TAKAHIRO OMORI WINS CITGO HORIZON AWARD

With the end a few weeks ago of the Bassmaster Tour regular
season, Team Yamamoto's Takahiro Omori earned the
prestigious CITGO Horizon Award, which is a $25,000 bonus
given to the angler who most improves his BASS Angler of the
Year standing from the year before.

Omori finished 40th in this year's point standings and
improved an incredible 98 positions from his 2002 ranking.

It was a special award for Takahiro, a 32-year-old pro from
Emory, Texas who overcame a personal tragedy.

"I made the Classic in 2001, but my dad passed away three
days after," says Takahiro. "After my dad passed, I couldn't
think about anything else. I just didn't fish very well in
2002. Winning the CITGO Horizon Award means that I have come
back from last year. I'm going back to the same place: New
Orleans. So hopefully it will come full circle. It feels
good to be competitive again."

Takahiro will receive his Horizon Award trophy at the
upcoming Bassmaster Classic scheduled August 1-3 in New
Orleans.

GARY YAMAMOTO ADDS 231 COLOR TO NEWEST CUT TAILS

"We have added the color 231 (Plum w/small Emerald Flake) to
the newest cut-tail worms," says Gary Yamamoto. "The reason
is that 231 has worked well everywhere we've gone on the
Bassmaster and FLW Tours, and not just recently," reveals
Gary. "For a long time 231 has been a personal confidence
color for me and for members of Team Yamamoto's national pro
staff. So when a june bug type bait is working, put a 231
Cut Tail on your hook. That's what I use," says Gary wisely.

Color 231 (Plum w/small Emerald Flake) now available in:

7L-10-231 5" Cut Tail
7C-10-231 5 3/4" Cut Tail
7X-10-231 6 1/2" Cut Tail
