| __________________________________________________ January 6, 2004 - Vol. 5 No. 1 __________________________________________________ EDITOR'S LOG We're getting 2004's first WEEKLY NEWS out early. Reason is, by the time you read this, Yamamoto's sales supervisor Jeremy Riley and I will be at the Universal Telescopic dealer show in peaceful Sacramento, California. Larry Evans and Chief George Braswell will be at the Henry's dealer show in lovely Charlotte, South Carolina. Yamamoto's Ron Colby and Jerry Hansen will be at the All Sports, AWR Sports & MT-Sports show in gala Las Vegas, Nevada. If you are a dealer planning to attend a show, stop by and we'll be glad to meet you. We will spend time with you to discuss our new products and new colors for 2004. Stop by to say hello and don't forget to grab a new 2004 catalog too. Someone just asked me, "How many ways can you write about fishing a plastic worm?" As we begin our fifth season of WEEKLY NEWS and twelfth year of the Inside Line magazine, we've not run out of ways yet. I feel we are only just beginning again. I've a brand new wall calendar for 2004. Looking at it, I see 365 fresh days to fill with the friendship and the harbinger of great fishing times ahead for us. Fishing is a continuum. I've not seen a season that remotely resembled or repeated those that came before it. Looking back at fishing seasons past is nostalgic and heart-warming, but it is looking forward that puts the adrenaline twitch in our casting arms! Each new season adds to and extends our experience. There's no limit on how far. Each one harbors new spots to fish, new friendships, new discoveries and new angling horizons within our reach. Each new cast conveys fresh hope for an angler. In several decades of beating the banks with a fishing stick, my interest in, excitement and anticipation for the next trip has never been higher than today. I know you feel the same. Welcome to the new 2004 season of your WEEKLY NEWS. Regards, Russ Bassdozer __________________________________________________ PRE-SPAWN INTERVIEW WITH TOMMY MARTIN by Jim Alphin http://www.insideline.net/2004/0102.html If you've visited Yamamoto's Toledo Bend Pro Shop you've met store manager Jim Alphin, the gent with the big smile. Recently, Jim grabbed East Texas bass fishing legend, Tommy Martin, to record this major interview. Have you ever wondered about the early days of bass fishing? Then settle into an easy chair for an entertaining and informative look through the eyes of a guy who has been there since the beginning. Although Tommy Martin talks of Texas, you can, as Martin has done, apply his knowledge to fit pre-spawn bass most anywhere, possibly even on your own home lake. PRE-SPAWN INTERVIEW WITH TOMMY MARTIN by Jim Alphin Full story at: http://www.insideline.net/2004/0102.html And while northern waters are now crunchy with ice crystals, Martin's information will be no less effective in a few months when pre-spawn bass begin to renew our cherished resource for 2004.
