In it, Jay speaks highly of the 3 inch size Senko, which is quietly becoming one of the Yamamoto company's most popular product models. Reason for the 3 inch Senko's popularity is that it flat out catches fish under tough conditions when nothing else works. Here's what Jay writes to say: Thanks for the great newsletter. Thought I would send a note to let you know that Senkos have come through again. I used Senkos (exclusively) to finish fifth overall at the BASS Western Divisional two years ago on the California Delta and secure a berth in the 2003 BASS National Championship. This year on Lake Powell I also relied heavily on Senkos to help me qualify for the 2005 BASS National Championship. I fished 4" tubes in the mornings (flipped into trees) and dropshot 3" Senkos (194J and 150) in the afternoons. On the last day, my morning fish would not bite so I moved to my dropshot fish and filled out a limit with 3" Senkos. Each of the final two days, my non-boater partners asked me for some 3" Senkos since nothing else was working. My partner on the last day, California's Mike Rold switched to Senkos and finished his limit to qualify for the 2005 BASS National Championship. Of course, I will have Senkos tied on at the 2005 National Championship. Please forward this email to the appropriate personnel at Yamamoto thanking them for making such bait. - Jay Evans 2004 Montana BASS State Champion 2005 BASS National Championship Qualifier __________________________________________________ IT TOOK MORE THAN JUST A SENKO TO WIN, SAYS ST. GERMAIN Yamamoto pro Joel St. Germain and partner Mike Martin won a tournament last week on Worden's Pond in Rhode Island. It's easy to summarily say "they won it on a Senko." "Actually, it took more than just a Senko to win," says St. Germain, "including the right rod, reel, hook and line."
